Prologue

Hello, visitor,

Welcome to my home. I am Parthasarathy, a 57-year young officer with Indian Railways. This is my autobiography, in which I propose to share my life, my hopes, my disappointments and above all, my feelings with you. You may well ask whether I am so famous or interesting as to expect you to read my autobiography. My reply, simply is that every human being is interesting and is a VIP to some. Aldous Huxley has said, "Every man's memory is his private literature." In any case, I hope to sustain your interest by providing varied content and using a lot of images.

My name is Parthasarathy , which literally means Arjuna's charioteer (Krishna). I was named after the presiding deity in the famous temple at Triplicane , Madras (now Chennai). My birth star is Moolam (it is said in Tamil that men born under 'moolam' rule). Born on January 29,1946, I am an Aquarian and share my birthday with many famous persons, some of whom are
1860 - Anton Chekov - Writer
1939 - Germaine Greer - Feminist
1945 - Tom Selleck - Actor
1954 - Oprah Winfrey - TV Host
1966 - Romario - Soccer player

As was customary among Tamil Brahmins, I was given three names. The other two were Ramanujan (Would I have been a mathematician?) and Madhavan (or an actor?). I am happy that I was named after Krishna, as the Hindus believe that because of his varied interests Krishna is Purna Purushotham (complete human being) (while Rama is Maryada Purushotham, human being worthy of respect). Perhaps my interest in varied subjects is due to my name!

P.G.Wodehouse I am 166 cm tall, dark complexioned and bald. I thought of wearing a wig, but gave up the idea when I read my favourite author P.G.Wodehouse declare, ' The only permanent cure for baldness was invented by a Frenchman in the 18th century and was called Guillotine.' Though my hair isn't good , my eyesight is. Among my circle of family and friends, I am the only one above fifty not having to wear spectacles.

I am a Hindu Iyengar by birth. Iyengars are worshippers of Vishnu and are also called Vaishnavites. I believe in God, but I am not dogmatic about my religious faith. I cannot claim much knowledge about Hinduism, ( which is very vast and according to Dr. Radhakrishnan, is not a religion but a way of life) though I made a Website in 2002 on 108 Divya Desams, which are sacred to Vaishnavites.

I have a positive attitude to life. I firmly believe that life is too precious to be wasted in quarrels or being angry or petty or in regret. I try to be a good son, a good husband , a good father, a good worker and above all , a good human being. If I were asked to write my epitaph in a single sentence, I would say,' He was a simple, straightforward, good and happy person with a sense of humour.'

Hope you enjoy your stay in my virtual home. There are poems / tidbits at the bottom of each page, which you will find interesting.

Thanks & Regards,

S. Parthasarathy
I was born on Tuesday, the 29th January 1946. Do you want to know the day of your birth? Select month and date and type year in 4 characters (XXXX)

IMAGINE IF INSTEAD OF CRYPTIC TEXT STRINGS, YOUR COMPUTER PRODUCED ERROR MESSAGES IN HAIKU...

A file that big?
It might be very useful.
But now it is gone.

Yesterday it worked
Today it is not working
Windows is like that
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Stay the patient course
Of little worth is your ire
The network is down
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Three things are certain:
Death, taxes, and lost data.
Guess which has occurred.

You step in the stream,
but the water has moved on.
This page is not here.

Out of memory.
We wish to hold the whole sky,
But we never will.

Having been erased,
The document you're seeking
Must now be retyped.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Rather than a beep
Or a rude error message,
These words: "File not found."
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Serious error.
All shortcuts have disappeared.
Screen. Mind. Both are blank.

The Web site you seek
cannot be located but
endless others exist
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Chaos reigns within.
Reflect, repent, and reboot.
Order shall return.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
ABORTED effort:
Close all that you have.
You ask way too much.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
First snow, then silence.
This thousand dollar screen dies
so beautifully.

With searching comes loss
and the presence of absence:
"My Novel" not found.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
The Tao that is seen
Is not the true Tao, until
You bring fresh toner.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Windows NT crashed.
I am the Blue Screen of Death.
No one hears your screams.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
A crash reduces
your expensive computer
to a simple stone.

Error messages
cannot completely convey.
We now know shared loss.
